History of Minsk Radio Engineering College

Our educational institution has a long and colorful history.

On July 2, 1960 , on the basis of Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR No. 383, the Minsk Radio Engineering College was created. Having begun its activities during the period of formation and development of the radio-electronic industry in the Republic of Belarus, the radio engineering technical school gradually transformed into a higher college.

On September 1, 1960 200 students began classes at the newly opened Minsk Radio Engineering College, the creation of which was predetermined by the development of industrial production, which revealed the republic’s need for qualified technical personnel. The first intake of students was carried out in the following specialties: “Electronic computers, instruments and devices”, “Radio equipment engineering”, “Production of radio-insulating materials and radio components”, “Programming for high-speed mathematical machines”.

22 teachers trained specialists in full-time and part-time forms of education. Among them were participants in the Great Patriotic War, including Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Eliseevich Sambuk.

In 1991 the order of the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Belarus No. 144 dated June 17, 1991 was issued. “On the experimental transformation of the Minsk Radio Engineering College into an educational institution of a new type – a college.”

In 1995 the college was reorganized again and received a new status and name – Minsk State Higher Radio Engineering College.

Students who studied in the 1st and 2nd year and showed good knowledge of the subjects, passed testing and confirmed their knowledge on the control section, were transferred to the second level of education, receiving pedagogical education in parallel with knowledge of special subjects, and after graduating from the Moscow State University of Radio Engineering and Technology – a teacher-radio engineer, teacher- economist, teacher-programmer. The graduation of the first twenty students with higher education in the specialty “Vocational Training” took place in 1998.

From September 1, 2015 a renewed page opens in the life of our college, which becomes a branch of the educational institution “Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics” (BSUIR) “Minsk Radio Engineering College” ( MRK). The college provides training only at the level of specialized secondary education, which does not reduce the level of responsibility for the quality of the graduates. RTO is a separate structural unit of BSUIR, integrated into the university, understanding and consciously supporting its Goals and Objectives, Quality Policy.

Since 2014 the college has been actively involved in the International Movement, the World Skills professional skills competition in the “Electronics” competency. The national team of the Republic of Belarus in this competency is being trained at the college. Every year, college students become winners of the republican competition in the “Electronics” category.
